Located on the Besiktas-Ortakoy Street, on the left when entered to the Yildiz
Park, Kiosk was constructed by Sarkis Balvan and brothers upon the order of
Sultan Abdulaziz. It was completed in
1870.
The kiosk was designed as a decoration for palace garden. There is
one big pool within the borders of front garden of Kiosk. The origin of the name is not certain but it is thought
that during the Ottoman era certain parts of palaces were called after the names
of conquered places, so this name was probably given after the siege of
Malta. In order to decorate the Kiosks ceilings are full of hunting animal images, fruits, vegetables figures which may be used to state that these are observation and hunting kiosks. |
